Hope in the Mist
The mist enshrouds my soul
As I search from deep within
To find the place where I’m going
And to leave the places I’ve been.
I’m afraid of moving forward,
But I know I can’t go back,
So I huddle here in my misery
Praying my heart won’t crack.
Who can be found in the darkness
That will carry me through to the light?
How can my hope be made real
When the mist is crowding my night?
My soul is downcast within me;
I will put my hope in the Lord.
From the dark of the mist I will praise him.
Through my God, my hope is restored.
By day the Lord will direct me;
At night he will sing me his song.
All too soon my life mist will vanish;
My hope in the Lord keeps me strong.
Psalm 42:5,8
“Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.
By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me-
a prayer to the God of my life.
Challenge Questions:
1. What is keeping you “huddled” in the mist of life, unable to move forward because of fear?
2. What, or who, are you putting your hope in?
3. Where should you be putting your hope? What will you do to find hope first in God?
